"A good wharf requires that the water in the port be deep enough to shield against storms, that there be plenty of space for ships to enter the port, and that there be a large number of berth posts."

Whether you prefer a port close to home or a frequent sea location as a dock, make sure the dock is easy to access (unless the dock provides additional system services). This is because you may need to maintain the boat when you are not using it, or when the weather is bad. The port location is within 1-2 hours of your city, or near the train station or airport, which makes it easier to make full use of your free time.

"Also pay attention to whether the port system is well maintained and whether the staff is dedicated, loyal and reliable," Perocchio continued. "You also need to carefully understand the range of services provided by the terminal, including reception, security systems, technical support, transportation services, restaurants and entertainment facilities. Adequate berthing waters and a sound security system are essential; it is less important whether the dock is equipped with a supply depot, as one can usually be found nearby. A meeting place for guests, such as a yacht club, swimming pool or fitness center, will add to your and your VIP's life on the boat. At the same time, if there are multiple fixed crew members on the boat, their service can bring you more considerate care and help."

In view of the wide variety of services described above, berth prices vary widely; therefore, it is possible to compare the infrastructure and amenities of each port and to value them on that basis. Sometimes, if you choose a lower-cost berth, you will not receive timely and effective emergency assistance, or you will not be able to enjoy high-quality private services.
